2nd Visit... or 1st BIG trip

November 04, 2017

I started out from Sydney in the morning. Already my eyes were looking for interesting trees, however highway driving made me reluctant to stop. I eventually stopped off at a non-descript turn off in the middle of nowhere and started snapping. I realised that it didn't matter where I went I was always going to find trees with a unique character and aesthetic.

Snow Gum

November 05, 2017

It was a wonderful moment getting this shot. I had started the morning in Jindabyne, despondent about the rain.. But at the top of Perisher at Charlotte's Pass the snow was new and fresh and the wet veneer on the Snow Gums brought out their extraordinary colour. I literally gasped out loud when I managed to get this picture. It is one of the great shots of the project.

The Bee Tree

November 05, 2017

Happily filming this lovely scraggly tree until I found myself surrounded by native bees. They were living in a hole in the base.  Would love it if anyone can identify this Gum.

Acknowledgement of Country

We would like to acknowledge and pay respect to the past and present traditional, first nation Elders and peoples of Australia. They are the true custodians of this

country and we celebrate and cherish their ancient and continuing creative and spiritual engagement with this land.

We are grateful to those indigenous people of various nations on mainland Australia and the Torres Strait Islands who have warmly and kindly shared their traditional insights with us. We are mindful of the custodianship of the traditional owners of the past and present of the different lands we travel through for this work. We are conscious of what a special thing it is to be helped into a deeper understanding of the Australian landscape.
